Hawaii (Sept. 16- 23)

We had a beautiful 8-day stay in Hawaii.  The Lareys welcomed us into their home.  Their 19 yr-old son, Kinohi (not pictured), has been in Guam since April 2012.  We met Kinohi on our "exploratory" trip of Guam and he "offered" his parent's home "if we ever went to Hawaii".  Little did he know who he was talking to. : )

Our hosts, the Lareys (from left to right): Kiali, Robbie and Phil
Famous shaved ice with ice cream at the bottom.  WONDERFUL!

POG special (Passion fruit, Orange and Guava)

At Dole Plantation
Cindi, and her son, Andrew Johnson, visiting from Texas.  They were staying at the Lareys', as well.
Lareys' neon-sign, outside their house read,
"NO VACANCY". : )
The BEST Pineapple ice cream on the planet!!

In front of Dole Plantation

Waimea Falls Park.  We're somewhere in the waterfall.

This is a 30' rock at Waimea Beach.  Russel and I jumped off this rock.  It takes A LOT of nerve!  Some do front/back flips off it. We stood at the top of the rock about 15 minutes before jumping...don't laugh, others took longer!!!  Finally, after watching 2 - 6 yr-olds do it several times, we did it!

Beautiful Lanikai

After 4 nights with the Lareys', we stayed at a very nice hotel in the heart of Waikiki.  This is the view from our balcony.

Incredible dinner at Duke's

We took a walk up Diamond Head.  It's a little over 1 mile.  The following 3 pictures are taken from the top of Diamond Head.

Nice picture with some fellow brothers at the Circuit Assembly near the North Shore of Hawaii.  Perhaps you noticed their extremely large bow ties.  They made them out of neck ties.
Last night in Hawaii...spent with friends

We were invited over to some friends' home for dinner after the Assembly. Great local Hawaiian and Filipino food!

Overall, one of the best trips we have ever had and it was an excellent follow-up to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan! We look forward to exploring the other islands for the next visit.
